John P. Casaletto
Chief Executive Officer↓

John was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Breakwater Investments in 2025. He leads the group’s strategic direction, oversees portfolio performance, and drives long-term value creation across Breakwater and its subsidiaries. He brings over two decades of board-level experience across a broad range of industries, including technology, retail, FMCG, education, marketing, ride-hailing, and renewable energy. With nearly ten years in executive leadership roles, including seven years as Chief Executive Officer of a group of IT companies, he has a strong track record in business transformation, digital innovation, and growth execution. He has served as Chairperson, Executive Director, and Non-Executive Director, providing strategic leadership, governance, and financial oversight. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Henley Business School and a Bachelor of Science in Business & Computing from the University of Malta.

Aldo Ellul
Chief Financial Officer↓

Aldo was appointed Chief Financial Officer of Breakwater Investments in March 2024. In this role, he oversees the finance function for the holding company, consolidates the group’s financial statements and monitors business performance, cash flow, and capital requirements, while ensuring compliance with statutory fiscal and corporate obligations. He also drives the overarching financial strategy and is a key player in the analysis of new projects and business development at Breakwater and its subsidiaries. A certified public accountant by profession, Aldo’s expertise is in international corporate environments and matrix reporting structures, having previously served as CFO at Unified Global Services Group Limited for over 9 years.

Denise Azzopardi Casha
Director of Finance↓

Denise, a warranted accountant with an ACCA certification, was appointed Director of Finance at Breakwater Investments Limited in January 2024. She oversees the group’s consolidated budgets, forecasts, cash flow, and management accounts, and leads the finance team at Carmelo Caruana Company Limited. Denise also works closely with external auditors to ensure the financial integrity and compliance with regulations.

Her career began in 2002 with PTL Limited, where she built a strong foundation in the IT sector. In 2012, she joined the Hili Group and subsequently held senior finance roles at 1923 Investments and Harvest Technology plc. With experience spanning both technology and logistics, Denise brings sharp insight, a steady hand, and a collaborative spirit to every challenge.

Calvin Cassar
Director of HR↓

Calvin was appointed Director of HR at Breakwater Investments in 2026. He leads the division’s HR strategy, overseeing employee relations, policies and procedures, training and development and quality assurance. He works closely with subsidiary HR leads and senior management teams to ensure consistent and forward-looking practices across the organisation.

He brings over 15 years of senior HR leadership experience within regulated and multinational environments. Prior to Breakwater Investments, he served as HR Director at a technology and solutions provider operating across multiple European markets, where he led strategic HR planning, organisational structuring and governance. and the implementation of Human Resource Information System (HRIS) solutions.

Calvin holds an MSc in Occupational Psychology from the University of Leicester and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Malta.
